Explore the grandiose temples that honored the gods and a magnificent necropolis from where the Pharaohs believed they would embark on a journey of eternal life, Luxor - the ancient city of Thebes and capital of Egypt for nearly 1,000 years is a showcase of monuments giving an exciting glimpse into the "World of the Pharaohs." Away from the historic sites shifting sands harbor the nomadic secrets of desert-dwelling Bedouin.

MASSAWA (Eritrea)

Ivory from India, cotton from Sudan, silk, wool, spices, scents and slaves - an important trading point, Massawa was for centuries a regional prize worth fighting for. A history of conflict and civil war kept this little-known sliver of a country sealed from the outside world. Today it's a nation locked in a time capsule. Stroll through the 300-year old Ottoman quarter - a maze of little alleyways and traditional coral houses where the smell of frankincense wafts from under beaded curtains, or step aboard a 1930s steam train built by the Italians when Eritrea was the jewel in their African crown.

Explore the city at the crossroads of ancient trade routes, or follow the Frankincense Trail and enjoy an exciting glimpse of Oman's striking countryside.

MUSCAT (Oman)
November 23rd ~ Arrive: 7 am / Depart: 6 pm
City of Sultans - Oman's capital dovetails the old and the new. Between the startling blue waters of the Arabian Sea and foothills of the Hajar Mountains, parks, palaces and mosques share a dramatic setting. True to its name the Great Mosque is the grandest monument in the region and one of the finest in the world. Wander through souks cloaked in the scent of spices, sail on a traditional wooden dhow. Impressions of Muscat are laced with legendary Omani hospitality.

FUJAIRAH (United Arab Emirates)new-port

Join Discovery on her maiden call to the spectacular city of Fujairah. A hidden treasure waiting to be discovered, the old fort is 300 years old and the Al Bidya Mosque dates back 400 years and displays a unique feat of engineering for its time.

Bombay, Mumbai - by any name this eclectic, cosmopolitan, teeming metropolis evokes a kaleidoscope of exotic images - the open air laundry Dhobi Ghat, elegant colonial Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus, famous Rajabal Clock Tower and iconic Gateway to India - all amidst interminable chaos and action. An extended stay before your flight home you can follow the Buddhist trail, explore Hinduism or take in the sublime beauty of UNESCO listed Elephanta Caves.
